Class 2 have been working as a team, in pairs, to create an animal that will fit into a certain habitat. We have discussed the the habitats and the attributes that each animal would need and how they have adapted to their environment. We then made our animals out of playdough! Here’s some of our adaptations!
Come in and see the food chains that we have created too!

Today we talked about Darwin’s theories of Evolution and the different beliefs that others have. We have talked about how we have adapted to our climate and surroundings and discussed how plants adapt to their habitats.
We have had fun testing ourselves with a quiz on these websites….

We have split into 2 groups for this one and are collecting seeds on sticky tape around our wrist to make a ’seed bracelet’ …then we are planting the seeds in our newspaper pots to see if they will grow!
Some of us looked at the Darwin website and played the Year 2 games and learnt how to look after virtual sunflowers!

We have been walking around the different habitats in our school grounds…being discoverers and asking lots of questions! We have written and drawn in our Darwin Notebook and have found some plants and tree that we didn’t know we had! The tree by our vegetable garden is an English Walnut tree!

This week is our curriculum week and we will be learning about the work of Charles Darwin.
Class 2 are the ‘Discoverers‘, hunting for the amazing plants that grow in their part of the world. They will see the similarities and differences between plants in different habitats, collect specimens and study them in simple experiments.
Here’s the link to The Great Plant hunt website organised by Kew Gardens.
